Mother attackd in Andover - Hampshire Police

Police are investigating the attempted robbery of a young mother in Andover.

The 22-year-old wa?s walking along pushing her five-month old baby in a buggy in the Artists Way area just off Ward Close leading to Poynter Close.

A man approached her, grabbing her and the buggy handle after asking for her mobile phone and a cigarette. She resisted and was able to run away with her baby still in the buggy.

The baby was not harmed. The woman received a wrist strain from resisting the robbery attempt.

Police are treating this crime as an isolated attempted robbery, which took place between 9.15am and 9.45am on Monday, November 17, 2014.

There is no information to suggest any motive involving the baby.

A suspect was described as:

  • White
  • Aged in his late teens to early 20s
  • 6 ft 4 ins tall
  • Skinny build
  • Shoulder length scruffy black hair
  • Facial stubble.

He was wearing a white Adidas hooded top with the Adidas logo on the left side of the chest, three red stripes down each arm and red ties on the hood, and dark tracksuit bottoms

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the robbery or anyone fitting the description.

Although this is being treated as an isolated incident, has anyone else been approached in similar circumstances within the area by a person fitting the suspect’s description?
