Education News | World Book Day at Winton | Andover & VillagesAfter weeks of preparation and the drama of ‘snow days’ Winton Community Academy finally managed to hold their World Book Day extravaganza on Friday 9th March and unveiled the exciting new library space.

Mad Hatters, Elves, Wally and Alice in Wonderland mixed with Dr Frankenstein, Game of Throne’s characters and a few ‘naughty pirates’ who spent the day playing tricks on unsuspecting victims.

Leading up to the ‘big day’, Ms Aylmer (Head of English) planned a series of competitions for students including: design a book token, create a book review and design your own book cover (lucky winner to have their story written by an English teacher of their choosing).

The winners were named at the grand library opening and prizes flowed freely. Students then raced around the school trying to complete the literary treasure hunt and book based house competition before returning to base to guess the teacher’s bookshelf and look around the bright, new reading space.

All in all an excellent day, enjoyed by everybody.

Let’s just hope Mr Thomas found his chair and those pesky pirates were punished!
