Andover Malcolm Cox death

A woman has been found guilty of manslaughter following the death of 84-year-old Andover man Malcolm Cox.

Izabela Dauti, 40, of Bell Road, Andover, was found guilty following a trial at Winchester Crown Court.

The court heard that paramedics found Mr Cox at Dauti’s address on the morning of Tuesday 15 November 2016.

Mr Cox had a 6cm cut to the back of his head and was taken to North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke, where he died the following day.

The trial heard that Mr Cox had been injured some time before paramedics were called, meaning that he could not get the aid that he needed.

The jury found Dauti guilty of manslaughter following the three-week trial.

She was today jailed for four and a half years.

Detective Chief Inspector David Brown said: “It is clear that Dauti had been exploiting Mr Cox, an elderly vulnerable man, for some time, and she failed to give him the care he needed when he sustained his head injury.

“I hope this verdict provides some closure to those close to Mr Cox and the wider community.”
