Year 10 GCSE Art students took full advantage of a fantastic opportunity offered by Hampshire Cultural Trust.
Winchester Discovery Centre is currently hosting an exhibition of Turner paintings curated with the theme of the sun.
Students were able to study the paintings at close quarters before taking part in a watercolour workshop run by artist Isabel Hurley. Whilst their paintings were drying, the group walked into the city centre to draw the same buildings Turner drew over 200 years ago.
Shoppers and tourists were intrigued to see the young artists happily sketching the Buttercross and cathedral.
As the only secondary school in Hampshire to take part in this new venture run by Exhibitions Officer Tara McKinney, Winton is looking forward to future joint projects.
