This year’s district Athletics event was blessed with beautiful sunshine and Winton Community Academy took a small team to participate for the day.

Students came back with a couple of wins including Damian Dixon in the Year 10 boys 100m and Shannon Lee in the Year 9 girls Javelin.

The team received a couple of second places with Oliver Coward jumping over 10metres in the Year 10 boys Triple Jump and Owen Carpenter who cleared 1m50 in the Year 10 boys high jump, not bad considering we don’t have any high jump facilities at school!

Other quality results included Gerson Aristoteles who won his 100m Year 10 boys heat and came 4th overall in his final. Chloe Lee finished 4th in the Year 9 girls long jump, Emre Gozlugol 4th in the Year 10 boys triple jump leaping 9m65, Lucas Hosking and Jimmy Rolfe who finished 6th and 7th respectively out of 16 athletics in the Year 10 boys discus.

Mrs Nicky Chewins PE Teacher said, “I am really proud of all our students that competed today and for the support they showed to one and other whilst they were watching and observing the different events”.
