Education News | Winton School Raises Over £1000 for Comic Relief | Andover & VillagesComic Relief at Winton this year was a week-long event with numerous activities put in place to attempt to raise over £1000 for this worthwhile charity. Through the week, we had “Any Tie Tuesday”, “Hats Day Wednesday”, ‘Trainer day Thursday and wear something red on Friday. Students made a small contribution each day to wear this alternative uniform.

We also asked all students and staff to look down the back of the sofa for coppers which we used to make a large comic relief sign raising an amazing £130 in 1p and 2p coins.

Finally, on the day we had numerous activities including basketball competitions, dance till you drop and pin the red nose on the teacher. However, the most popular activity was soaking the Senior Leadership Team where students queued up to pay 50p to throw wet sponges at the Head Teacher and the senior team.

It was a fabulous week filled with community events which the students really engaged with, once we’d added up every last penny we were delighted to find we had hit our £1000 target.
