Year 10 catering students from Winton Community Academy were invited by the manager, Victoria Thorpe, to visit the kitchen and sample foods at the Queen Charlotte Pub in Andover.
The chef laid on a huge variety of different foods from their menu, from baked Camembert to bacon ketch up!.
Students had fun sampling foods and looking at the presentation of the dishes.
They were then challenged by Victoria to design a dish, cost it, and design the presentation.
Victoria visited Winton whilst the students cooked their dishes and prepared their tables, to hopefully win the opportunity to have their design featured on the menu in the Queen Charlotte.
Manager of the Queen Charlotte, Victoria Thorpe said, “it was fantastic to see the students getting enthusiastic about food and enjoying creating their dishes. It was so difficult to pick a winner, so I decided to choose three dishes to showcase on our specials board.”
Harrison Escudier, Year 10 student said, “It was a new experience that as a catering GCSE student I will not forget. This made me think more practically about what I am going to do in my future lessons.”
