Southern Water have confirmed this afternoon that the water spraying up into the air in Waterloo Court, is a hydrant and not a burst water main.
Water is spraying up into the air, as it cascades down children are playing and groups of bystanders stand by and watch the scene.
A Southern Water Spokesperson told Andover & Villages, “We are aware there has been an incident today (Friday 19 August) with one of our hydrants in Andover and have a specialist on site.
“We were alerted to this issue by the local council and are working to fix the hydrant as quickly as possible.
“We will be looking into the cause of the damage to the hydrant as a matter of course.”
