WhatsApp users are being warned by Action Fraud of a £250 supermarket voucher scam doing the rounds.

The scam tells WhatsApp users that to celebrate the supermarket’s anniversary, the retailer is offering everyone a free £250 voucher. There is a link to click and fill in your details.

Many different supermarket names have been used in the scams including: Asda, Aldi, Tesco, Lidl and Morrisions.

There are two tell-tale signs that the message is a scam, they often feature spelling and grammatical mistakes and if you manually tye in the supposed URL they give you, you will see that the page does not exist on the supermarket website.

If you do fall for the scam you will find your phone is plagued with nasty viruses.
