Wallop Amateur Singers and Performers receive Councillor Community Grant

Ward councillor for Over Wallop, Councillor Tony Hope, has awarded the most recent Test Valley Borough Council’s Councillor Community grant to the Wallop Amateur Singers and Performers (WASPs).

This community project gives local young people the opportunity to perform and express themselves through drama in an informal and friendly environment. Councillor Tony Hope presented the £500 cheque to the Chair of WASPs, Jo Brazier, and WASPs member Brian Ross. Jo said: “We are thrilled with this very generous grant and we will now be able to fund this project for the whole year”.

Councillor Hope added: “I am delighted that these funds will be used to develop the youth drama group for those aged 6-16 from different schools and backgrounds. The regular local workshops will improve their performance skills and help develop young people’s confidence, communication, teamwork, problem-solving and public speaking skills.”

The Test Valley Borough Council Councillor Community Grant Scheme aims to encourage community led initiatives that play an active part in helping local communities deliver their ambitions and reach their full potential. For more information, visit www.testvalley.gov.uk
