In 2015 composer John K Miles was invited to create a new choral piece for Andover with the aim of bringing together local singers and communities in one inspiring piece of music.
The result is Voices of Andover, an exciting new local project that has been gathering momentum over the past few months, and which will culminate in its premiere at The Lights on 23 March.
Four local schools have joined the project: Clatford Church of England Primary School, Icknield School, Portway Junior School and The Mark Way School. They will be supporting the performance of the Andover Voices singing group – formed after an open call to Andover residents.
A series of workshops have been taking place, both in schools and at The Lights, enabling participants to contribute to the creation of a new song cycle for Andover: Voices of Andover; exploring the history, geography and culture of the town and what it means to live here.
Voices of Andover will be premiered at The Lights on Wednesday, 23 March at 7.30pm. Directed by John K Miles, the singers will perform the full song cycle, supported by an ensemble of world-class professional musicians.
Tickets are £5 each and are available from The Lights Box Office, 01264 368368 or online at www.thelights.org.uk
