Coronavirus Andover Shopping Hits the Elderly

Over the last 24 hours, businesses have been responding to the COVID-19 outbreak and the latest government advice.

Andover’s Iceland Store has announced that they will open their store to the elderly only from 9am-11am today to allow them to shop for their necessities.

Tesco announced that they would be reducing their opening times to 6am-10pm across all stores, the supermarket giant hopes to reduce panic buying and is also mitigating the effects of the countrywide illness and ‘self-isolation’ being recommended by the government.

McDonald’s has ceased all seated dining throughout their restaurants in the UK as per government recommendations, they will continue to provide their drive-thru and takeaway service and of course, food delivery options through Uber eats and Just Eat.

Sainsbury’s Has announced that on Thursday 19th March 2020, they will be only allowing the elderly to shop in their stores for the first hour of opening which is 8am-9am. Additionally, from Monday 23rd March, all customers over 70 and those with disabilities will have priority access to home delivery slots.
