Local people have the chance to try out two new fun water sports at Charlton Lakeside from bank holiday Monday and for the rest of the summer.
Valley Leisure, who run the site on behalf of Test Valley Borough Council, are introducing stand up paddle boarding and kayaking to the lakes to give local people more activities to choose from and new opportunities to get more active.
Stand up paddle boarding is a fun activity that is good for improving balance and working core muscles.
Kayaking can be done in individual boats or as pairs and can benefit general fitness, strength and flexibility without impact on the knees.
“We’re really excited to be able to launch these new services,” said Ben Thambipillai, assistant manager sport and activity at Valley Leisure.
“They are fun for all the family and offer a great fitness opportunity too. They are the kind of thing people can try out on their own or with their family or a group of friends.
“Weather permitting, it should be a great summer,” said Ben.
Spaces are limited for both new water sports and children must be eight or over to take part. Sessions can be booked online at www.valleyleisure.co.uk
Full terms and conditions are also on the Valley Leisure website and videos of people trying out the boats and boards can be seen on the Andover Leisure Centre Facebook page and at http://bit.ly/kayakingatCharltonLakes
