Western Avenue’s Lidl Supermarket applied to Test Valley Borough Council in December 2019 to ask for a two-hour extension on their allowed delivery times.
Lidl are currently allowed to receive deliveries Monday to Saturday from 7am until 10pm, and on Sundays and Bank Holidays from 8am until 8pm.
Lidl’s planning application asked to extend the delivery hours on Monday to Saturday for an extra two hours to 7am until 12pm.
Lidl said in their proposal that the extension would ‘allow a more efficient delivery operation’ and that the regional distribution hub for Lidl is some distance away and every increasing road congestion means that a wider delivery window is required.
Planning officers refused the application, stating;
- The proposed increase in delivery hours until midnight Monday to Saturday would be likely to have an unacceptable impact on the amenity of the neighbouring residential properties in terms of noise and disturbance as such the proposal would conflict with Policy E8 of the Test Valley Borough Revised Local Plan 2016.
