Team assessing building

On Friday Andover woke up to a devasting explosion in Launcelot close that entirely destroyed the first house in the terrace.

Phil North (TVBC Leader) has issued a statement regarding the residents of King Arthurs Way.

“I am pleased to report that most of the residents evacuated from King Arthur’s Way due to the explosion on December 27 are now safely back in their properties following a comprehensive assessment from a structural engineer. All of the utilities have also been switched back on. Unfortunately, one household remains in temporary accommodation due to structural damage to their home and the residents of the two properties destroyed by the blast are being supported by Test Valley Borough Council’s partners.

“Once again, I would like to thank all those involved, including the emergency services and local volunteers, for all their help during this difficult time. One of Andover’s greatest assets has always been its strong sense of community and the way everyone has pulled together over the past few days is a shining example of that.

“We continue to keep all of those affected by this terrible tragedy in our thoughts, particularly James Kirkby who so tragically lost his life and all those who loved and cared for him.”
