Residents of Highland Road and users of the popular dog-walking spot at Ladies Walk have expressed their fury that Travellers have once again been allowed to take up residence in the area. The land currently being used by the Travellers is believed to be privately owned and is located near Ladies Walk on the field next to the park by Highlands Road. Reports have been received suggesting that there are eleven vehicles in total, four of which are caravans and the rest are cars or vans.

One resident reports that they have had problems with the travelling community during previous years in the same location at Highlands road and the litter that has previously been left behind. Others report that they have already been disturbed this year with noise from the dogs barking.

Residents have expressed their outrage that the owner of the land has not blocked the entrance to the area meaning that the Travellers are able to set up home very easily year after year.

Police attended the scene last night but were unable to move the Travellers on. Do you have any photographs or further information? Contact us at editor@andoverandvillages.co.uk. Many thanks to Paul Scicluna for the photograph.
