Tom’s achievements in 2015 include winning the Andover Schools’ Javelin competition breaking the district record for a third consecutive year, winning the County competition from which he was selected to represent Hampshire in the South East inter-counties competition which he also went on to win.

Tom was then invited to attend an international javelin school in Finland. During the week he enjoyed specialist training at a high level and competed, before returning to the UK for English Schools’ Championships in July at Gateshead where he threw 48.07m earning a silver medal.

During John Hanson’s sports day in July he took a throw breaking the school record for the third consecutive year with a distance of 50.50m. Tom Hewson said: “This year has given me the opportunity to compete but also coach other students, whilst still concentrating on my academic studies.”
