Test Valley Borough Council’s Environmental Services team cleared around two tonnes of rubbish from Andover’s Junction Road and neighbouring areas on Friday, 21 November when the team spent the day tidying up the local area during a Sparkle Day.
Running successfully for some years now, Sparkle Days are targeted mini-makeovers which form part of the Council’s ongoing ‘Love Where You Live’ litter campaign. The aim of a Sparkle Day is to focus the Environmental Service’s resources, skills and hard work on a specific area to add an extra bit of sparkle for local residents.
Environmental Portfolio Holder, Councillor Graham Stallard, said: “During the day the autumn leaves were swept up, trees were pruned and recycling information was handed out. I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work to make the area sparkle.”
The next Sparkle Day will take place on 29 January 2015 in Sherfield English. For more information, visit www.testvalley.gov.uk/love.
