Tidworth voted best in wiltshire

Tidworth Golf Club has been voted as the best members golf club in Wiltshire by top100golfcourses.com.

The news is just one in a great line of accomplishments achieved by the club in recent times, which has gone above and beyond to deliver the best possible environment for their members to enjoy.

Improvements made to the course itself include the inclusion of three new tees, lengthening the course for players and cutting trees, fairways to help improve the overall presentation of the golf course. Bunkers have been developed and there are no temporary greens at Tidworth, with the same greens being used all-year-round.

Behind the scenes, there has also been a significant work with the appointment of a new Clubhouse Manager that has seen the club become closer to its members. Regular information regarding ongoings at the club is provided to members via email and the official Tidworth Golf Club website is regularly updated.

Four years ago they ranked seventh amongst all Wiltshire golf clubs within the same poll, but have since risen to third overall, also making them the number one members club in the process. The only two Wiltshire clubs ranked higher than Tidworth are privately owned.

There has been excessive positive player feedback from those who have used the course and funding has led to the further development of the bunkers. With professional PGA-trained coaching available for members, they are committed to helping develop players of all abilities.

This also translates to the south side of the golf club where there is hope to create a Tidworth academy and reduced membership rates for those aged 18 and under.

However, it isn’t only on the green where Tidworth has excelled. They regularly provide a platform for community events with their function room and members of the public may also hire the space for private use.

Tidworth Golf Club General Manager, Geoff Johnson MBE, certainly isn’t resting on his laurels when it comes to the recent plaudits and success. On maintaining their current progress he said: “We have to continue to make the members and visitors experience memorable, remaining customer-focused all the time. To manage and maintain that we need to continue to improve.

“We will continue to develop the golf course, develop the staff and we have future projects that we want to carry out that will enhance what we already do at the golf club.”
