We went to the last Weyhill Fairground Produce and Craft Fair on the first Wednesday Morning of October, we were a little disappointed that more stalls were not in attendance, however the ones they did have there were brilliant with high quality goods being sold. After we had enjoyed tea and a bacon sandwish in the small tea room on site, we wandered through the stalls and had a chat with every stall holder, there were so many lovely pretty and delicious things on sale.
I have met the girls from Little Sew ‘n’ Sew before at last year’s St Mary Bourne Christmas Fair and I bought a lovely cushion with ducks and chickens on for my dining room so it was really nice to see them again and eventually remember where I had seen them before. They told me that there is usually lots more stalls and what a shame it is that more people don’t know about the fairground and it’s lovely markets. Next we spoke to Lynn from Echo Lane Creative Glassworks who had a fantastic range of products that she had made, my favourite were the wine bottles that had literally melted flat, I have put it on my Christmas wish list and do hope I get one. There were a couple of stalls selling fresh home reared meats, Warren Farm and also Oaktrack Smallholding, both local and again the stall holders told us that it is usually better attended. There was a lovely stall selling homemade cakes and beautiful plants for the garden.
All in all, it was a lovely fair, but I would implore any local businesses who sell produce or crafts to come along with your wares, it was so busy in terms of foot fall but we really do need to get this treasure of a local event out there to the residents of Andover and its Villages. I hear there will be more stalls at the one tomorrow (Wednesday 16th October 2013) so please do go up and visit and maybe start your Christmas shopping!
