We knew that the Travelling Cupcake were due to set down roots in the new Pop Up Shop and then we were contacted to be told the Princess and her attendants would be there, we had previously arranged to go to the Wedding Fayre at The Lights and so dashed over to the opening straight afterwards. We were sad to have missed the actual opening, but things were in full swing when we got there. Although the Princess had already left, her attendants were eating cake and enjoying a drink with their mums and Iris Anderson who takes care of the Royal party. As we got there, Councillor Hawke was just leaving having enjoyed coffee and a cake, she told us that the idea of a Pop Up Shop was fantastic for the area and that a tea shop like the one in residence now is just what we need.
The tables and chairs were donated by Twice as Nice from Aster Communities and they were festooned with beautiful table cloths giving the place a retro feel.
The shop was busy the whole time we were there and we made sure we stocked up with lots of Bev’s treats and cakes, we spoke to two of her children, James and Trixie, who are set to take over a shelf in the shop with home made biscuits and sweets, a real enterprise for the half term. They are very excited to be a part of the town’s Pop Up Shop.
The shop was consistently busy throughout the time we drank our tea, with people literally walking past and seeing what was on offer and dashing in to buy cupcakes and other delicious sweet treats.
The Travelling Cupcake is open Mon-Sat 9am – 5.30pm and Sundays 10am – 4pm.
