With the nomination period of the Pride of Andover Awards 2018 almost over, time is running out to recognise the unsung heroes of Andover town.
Sponsored by an array of local businesses passionate about the town and its community, this year’s 9 awards categories have been created to shine a much-needed light on inspiring individuals working & volunteering in and around Andover to strengthen our community.
The Pride of Andover Awards 2018 offers the opportunity for anyone nominated to be shortlisted for an award, including the Sue Sheppard Award, sponsored by The Commercial Centre.
This special award is for someone who has demonstrated personal courage, bravery or endeavour to overcome a personal challenge or has, against the odds, dramatically turned their life around showing with hard work, passion and belief that anyone, despite their circumstances, can make a success of things.
Simon Potter of The Commercial Centre commented on the award:
“For me, supporting local initiatives like this is important because local people support our businesses, and I like to give something back to the community. I choose to support the Sue Sheppard Award particularly because I knew Sue personally, so this category means a great deal to me.
“There are so many unsung heroes in Andover, doing wonderful things for our town that go unnoticed, and I believe it’s so vital that unsung heroes do receive the recognition they deserve; if they didn’t continue selflessly contributing to the community in the way they do, their absence would be noticed!”
