Staff from Andover based insurance company, Be Wiser, were part of the judging panel for The Big Write competition at John Hanson Community School recently.
Students from Years 7 – 9 and teachers took part in the competition now in its second year. This year’s theme was A Journey.
There were three categories, short story, biography and science fiction. For each age group there were prizes awarded for Gold, Silver and Bronze. There were also two overall Platinum winners, one from Years 7-8 and one from Year 9.
“What a great day and what talented young writers,” said Tracy Charters from Be Wiser. “We were joined by other local employers and members of the local Andover community to judge the many entries. Judges were split into three groups to read all the submissions. We then discussed each one and put them in order of their final placings.
“It was hard to select the winners as there were so many brilliant entries. Congratulations to the students who took part and of course well done to those who won! Here’s to ‘Big Write’, 2017,” she said.
