Testbourne Community School in Whitchurch Hampshire has made the move to close the school to all year 8 students.
The closure starts from Wednesday 18th March 2020 and applies to all students in Year 8, the decision has been made because of staff shortages in the wake of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis.
Headteacher, Jon Beck wrote to parents today (17th March 2020) to update them on the situation surrounding COVID-19, in the thorough update it was clear that the situation was affecting attendance for both staff and students, putting the school under strain.
The school has cancelled sporting fixtures as well as school events and visits as follows:
- Wednesday 18th March – Astronomy event
- Thursday 19th March – Dance Showcase (for audience members).
- Friday 20th March – QMC Year 11 MFL and English workshops.
- Thursday 26th March – Year 11 Parents’ Consultation Evening
The update reminds parents that if a new cough or a high temperature develops (not just a combination of these symptoms), then you and the members of the household must self-isolate.
