Now only 8 weeks to go until the Test Valley Business Awards Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony, held at The Lights, Andover, on 22 nd September; the spotlight is on the Food & Drink Producer of the Year Award and its 3 deserving finalists. A brand new category for 2016, Food & Drink Producer of the Year sponsored by McCrimmon & Reid, recognises businesses with a strong connection to their local community; working with locally grown and sourced produce to sell original food & drink to consumers within the Test Valley. The Awards ceremony offers a chance for businesses in Test Valley to share their stories and celebrate success, whilst building lasting relationships. The Awards offer a great opportunity for businesses involved to gain valuable publicity and promote their expertise.
The finalists in this category for 2016, are:

“It was a complete honour for us to be asked to choose the finalists of the Food and Drink Producer of the Year award,” comments Alan Haughie of McCrimmon & Reid. “In doing so we met some truly entrepreneurial and inspirational people. “We are strong advocates in supporting local businesses, not only do we ensure all our suppliers are local to Hampshire but the success of our business, is itself, dependant on the recommendations of locals. It was fantastic to meet so many small businesses pursuing these same values.
“These awards are a perfect opportunity to give recognition to those who work extremely hard to ensure their trade is a success and to encourage those thinking of doing so.
It was incredibly difficult to choose between the 3 finalists and all are worthy winners showing real passion and dedication to providing a quality product. “ Following the official finalists announcement, Jane Berntsen of Andover Buffets commented:
“Cooking has always been my life passion although it is only recently that I have been able to follow this professionally, so I am both amazed and honoured to have been shortlisted for this category. From the very beginning I have always believed that the personal touch and attention to detail from start to finish will help me to understand exactly what each individual client wants. So, regardless of the event; a simple sandwich buffet through to a full wedding breakfast, I cook everything fresh from scratch, hold no stock and develop personal menus in order to ensure that I achieve this.”
Similarly, Chris Crutchley of enJoy Raw Chocolate, stated: “Being shortlisted as a finalist this year for the Test Valley Business Awards 2016 is a great endorsement for us. We are proud to be part of this wonderful celebration of business achievement, particularly because of the recognition given to our delicious raw dark chocolate that is free from nasties such as dairy, gluten, soya and refined sugars.”
Finally, Mark Betteridge of Betteridge’s Brewery remarked: “Having been in the brewing business for just over two years, I am honoured to have been nominated for the Food and Drink Producer of the Year Award. I always meant Betteridge’s Brewery to be focussed on the Test Valley area, giving local people real ale to be proud of; made in small batches with a unique identity, and delivered to all with a personal service. Being shortlisted is a huge reward in itself, and I know what everyone puts into making a business successful, so well done to all who have taken part, and I look forward to the Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner on 22nd September and meeting other people in business in the Test Valley.” Now in its 12 th year, the Test Valley Business Awards – run by a small steering group of volunteers and supported by the Council – has become a well-established platform to promote businesses excellence and especially to shine a light on the many new and small innovative businesses operating out of sight. It is a great way to enable smaller enterprises to gain the recognition and exposure to grow.
The Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony will take place at The Lights, Andover, on the evening of 22 nd September. Tickets are just £50 to include a welcome drink and sumptuous 3 course meal provided by Michelin Award Winning chefs McCrimmon & Reid.
