Worried Tesco shoppers can sleep soundly in their beds tonight, with the knowledge that Tesco will not be closing any stores in the area.
Tesco warned in early January that they would be closing 43 unprofitable stores and speculation was rife that Andover would be hard hit with four stores in Andover itself, The Tesco Extra on River Way and three Tesco Metros on the outskirts of Andover.
Tesco endured a 0.3% fall in like-for-like store sales over the six-week Christmas period.
Tesco will also abandon its headquarters in Cheshunt in 2016, after more than 40 years and 49 stores in the pipeline are being cancelled.
