Councillor Patricia Stallard, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Health and Public Health, is encouraging the county’s residents to take up the Living Streets’ Walk Challenge this autumn.
Living Streets’, the UK charity for everyday walking, has established the Walk Challenge which will take place from Monday 28 September until Friday 2 October.
Commenting on the initiative, Councillor Stallard said: “The challenge is free, fun and can be accessed online. We are encouraging County Council staff to take up the challenge, and I would love to see the county’s residents joining in too. You can log your walks to see how they all add up to burn calories – not only will people feel themselves getting fitter and but they will be helping to reduce CO2 omissions. Increased walking rates help us to stay healthy and fit and reduces the risks of developing diseases like type two diabetes.”
