Andover Weight Watchers embraced a new incentive called ‘Swishing’ at St Michaels Church Hall on Saturday 30th March 2014.

Karen Allingham and Sarah Hill run the Andover Weight Watchers meetings and arranged for the event to follow a regular weekly weigh in session. Swishing involves Weight Watchers members and the public bringing along clothes that no longer fit, and then being able to buy an item of clothing from the rail for a £1 donation to the chosen charity, which in this case was Diabetes UK, a fantastic £193 was raised throughout the morning.

Andover and Villages asked Karen if the incentive would stretch to regular weekly meetings, to which she said, “It would be great if we could do this as a regular thing. It is so tough losing weight and not fitting into anything any more, and seeing and feeling dress sizes drop is a great incentive to keep going with a healthy eating plan like Weight Watchers.”

Visitors to the Swishing event were able to try on clothes and get lots of really helpful feedback from the other ladies there, giving a real sense of camaraderie in the room.
