Success for Roman Way School’s Art Week for Enham TrustLeading Hampshire-based disability charity Enham Trust’s innovative Art Programme has officially started, as Roman Way School kicked off proceedings with their aptly named Art Week held at the beginning of February; creating hundreds of pieces of art for the charity.

With the enthusiastic participation of 250 of the school’s pupils, an impressive 250 individual pieces of art were created – ready for display on the Trust’s home estate in Enham Alamein, near Andover.

Closely linked to Enham Trust’s plans for their historic Cedar Park site – demolishing the existing buildings to make way for a 14 bed Neurological Rehabilitation Unit and 95 new accessible homes – the Art Programme marks the beginning of this step-changing venture for the charity; making use of the hoardings that currently sit around the building site.

“We were delighted to work with Enham Trust to support the Art Programme,” remarks Roman Way School’s Head Teacher Sarah Jones. “Everyone involved had a great time and all the art created is beautiful; I’m so proud of the pupils, and happy to have contributed to such a wonderful cause. We look forward to working with the Trust again and are already making plans to support the `Denim for Enham` day.”

Keen to establish stronger relationships within the community; with local schools, local artists, and budding artists, in turn presenting the idyllic grounds of the charity as a centre for art and expression, with the Art Programme the Trust hopes to invite all members and areas of the local community to visit the grounds and express themselves through art, whilst learning more about the charity’s history, clients, and ambitious plans for the future.

Empowering clients to find new ways to express themselves, and encouraging engagement and support from the community perfectly complements Enham Trust’s ethos; supporting over 7,500 disabled and disadvantaged people across the country each year to live lives of choice, control and independence.
