The following list of roadworks and disruptions for A34, A303, M4, A404, M4 and M27 is corrected as of Friday, 20th of September, but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or other circumstances. All improvements are carried out with the aim to stop disruptions.

A34 Oxfordshire: junction improvements

Work to refresh the road markings and install road studs at the West Ilsley junction, Chilton junction, Milton Interchange, Hinksey Hill junction and the Botley Interchange continues this week. The A34 northbound from the M4 Chieveley junction to the A4130 Milton Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 24 September for two nights. A signed diversion will be in place via the A4, A338 and A417.

In addition, the A34 southbound from the A4130 Milton Interchange to M4 Chieveley junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 26 September for two nights. A signed diversion will be in place via the A417, A338 and A4.

A34 Botley (Oxford), Oxfordshire: surveys

Work to carry out surveys around the A420 Botley junction takes place this. Lane closures will be in place on the roundabout and approach roads overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 26 September for seven nights (Monday to Friday only).

A404 Henley, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the street lighting around the Burchetts Green junction takes place this week. The northbound exit slip road at the A4130 junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 23 September.

  • The southbound entry slip road and the northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 24 September for two nights.
  • The southbound exit slip road and the northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 26 September for two nights

During all closures, signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M4 junctions 3 at Hayes to 12 at Theale, Berkshire: upgrade to smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M4 into a smart motorway between junctions 3 at Hayes and 12 at Theale continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction are in place for sections of this stretch of the M4. Carriageway and slip road closures are planned as follows, all fully closed overnight between approximately 10pm and 5am (traffic management will usually be rolled out from 9pm and taken off by 6am).

  • The M4 will be closed in both directions from 8pm on Friday 27 to 6am on Monday 30 September.
  • The M4 westbound between junctions 6 (Slough/Windsor) and 8/9 (Maidenhead/High Wycombe) will be closed overnight on Monday 23 September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A332, A308, and A308M.
  • The M4 eastbound between junctions 8/9 (Maidenhead/High Wycombe) and 6 (Slough/Windsor) will be closed overnight on Tuesday 24 September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A332, A308, and A308M.
  • The M4 eastbound between junctions 12 (Theale) and 11 (Reading) will be closed overnight on Wednesday 25 September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A4 and A33.
  • The M4 westbound between junctions 11 (Reading) and 12 (Theale) will be closed overnight on Thursday 26 September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A4 and A33.
  • The M4 will be closed in both directions between junction 5 (Langley) and 6 (Slough/Windsor) from 8pm on Friday 27 September, all weekend until 6am Monday 30 September. The diversion route will utilise the A4 and A355, while the westbound slip roads from the M25 junction 15 to the M4 junction 4b will also be closed in order to manage traffic entering the M4. Please avoid driving in the area if possible over this weekend and use alternative routes or methods of transport.
  • At junction 10, the eastbound exit slip to the A329M southbound (slip road 7) will be closed overnight on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 September.

 

M4 junction 14 Hungerford, Berkshire: surveys

Work to carry out surveys of the network at junction 14 takes place this week. The westbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 27 September. Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to maintain journeys and ensure road user safety by replacing the Romsey Road bridge near junction 3 continues this week. A 50mph speed restriction is in place on the M27 in both directions beneath the bridge until winter.

M27 junctions 4 Southampton to 11 Fareham, Hampshire: smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M27 into a smart motorway continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction will be in place until 2021.

A3 Petersfield/Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Hampshire: drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system along the A3 at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park takes place this week. The northbound entry slip road at the Charlton junction, and the northbound slip roads at the Country Park will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 23 September.

In addition, the northbound slip roads at the Country Park will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 26 September for three nights (Monday to Friday only). Signed diversion will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

A3 Petersfield to Horndean, Hampshire: road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A3 continues this week. The A3 southbound will be closed from the A272 Berelands junction at Petersfield to junction 2 of the A3(M) overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 24 September. A signed diversion will be in place via the A272 and A32.

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: maintenance

Work to maintain the tunnel by carrying out tunnel maintenance takes place this week.  The southbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 September for four nights. Traffic will be diverted through the northbound tunnel in contraflow under a 40mph speed limit.

In addition, the northbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 27 September. Traffic will be diverted through the southbound tunnel in contraflow under a 40mph speed limit.

A3 Longmoor, Hampshire to Compton, Surrey: road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A3 continues this week. The A3 northbound will be closed from Longmoor to the A31 Hogs Back overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 26 September for four nights. A signed diversion will be in place via the A350 and A31.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: slip road widening and street lighting

Work to improve the street lighting and safety by widening the southbound slip road at the University Interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes are in place on the A3 northbound and University exit slip road 24 hours a day until March.

A3 Guildford to Compton, Surrey: street lighting

Work to ensure safety by repairing damaged street lighting columns along the A3 takes place this week. The A3 southbound from the Stoke Interchange to Compton will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 September for three nights. A signed diversion will be in place via Guildford, the A31 Hogs Back and the B3000.

A27 Farlington, Hampshire: surveys

Work to carry out surveys of the bridges at the A2030 Eastern Road junction take place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the roundabout and approach roads overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 27 September.

A31 Sturminster Marshall, Dorset: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A31 near Sturminster Marshall as well as maintaining the signage and vegetation at the Dullar Lane crossroads finishes this week. The A31 will be closed in both directions between the Bere Regis roundabout and the Roundhouse Roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Monday 23 September.  A signed diversion will be in place via the A350 and A35.
