With generous support from the ASDA Foundation, one of the rooms at The Bridge was redecorated and equipped with computers to enable customers to access the internet.
Known as the Orange Room, Sir George Young MP formally cut the tape in the presence of the Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Sandra Hawke, the Deputy Mayor of Test Valley Borough Council, Iris Andersen, and local Councillor Chris Lynn.
Sir George paid tribute to the work of Valley Church who own the building, and who provide a wide range of services to the homeless and other vulnerable people in the town. “I applaud the drop-in centre which they have in the building, and the counselling and debt advice service which is offered upstairs. The Orange Room will help people access the growing number of services and best deals which are only available on the internet”.
Volunteers Keith and Spencer will be on hand, for the two days a week when the Orange Room is open, to help customers navigate their way round the internet.
