Local News | Rural Thefts on the Increase in the Andover AreaPenton Lodge has been the latest victim in a spree of rural thefts in the local area.

The Lodge workshop, on Newbury Hill in Penton Mewsey, was broken into on Monday night (25th May 2015). The intruders moved the CCTV cameras that were in situ and proceeded to take chainsaws and a strimmer.

Over the last few weeks, similar incidents have occurred in the area, with one attack in Ox Drove, Picket Piece, in a small industrial unit, on 16th May 2015 at around 2am. At least four men wearing balaclavas descended on the site, in what is thought to be a white Ford Mondeo. The men proceeded to break into a van, and then use it with a chain to rip off doors on a container situated on the site. The men stole a Cobra Push Lawn Mower, two Gardencare Chainsaws, a Stihl Chainsaw and a Honda Generator worth around £4,000. The men also stole a Land Rover.

The Land Rover was later used in a ram raid in Alton. Police found the Land Rover after this incident burnt out.

Finkley Down Farm was also the victim of theft last week after several ducks and chickens were stolen from sealed chicken pens.
