Rosebourne Set to Showcase Hampshire Food and DrinkA select group of Hampshire food and drink producers will be showcased at Rosebourne, the new purpose-built garden centre being constructed in Weybridge near Andover, when it opens in early October 2016.

Rosebourne (formerly the Weyhill Nursery) is committed to sourcing the best, fresh local produce and is delighted to unveil the first suppliers who will cater for its new food hall and table-service restaurant.

Owton’s Butchers, one of the UK’s premier wholesale butchers and farm shops, will be Rosebourne’s in-house butchery, supplying both retail customers in the food hall and the restaurant’s kitchen team with the finest meats.

The Southampton-based company has been a wholesale butchery for over 40 years and has won multiple accolades for its outstanding quality of meat. These include being crowned ‘Supreme Champion’ at the Q Guild Smithfield Awards last year and, in 2016, it scooped a batch of Great Taste Awards – the country’s most coveted blind-tasted food awards.

Other regional suppliers will include, Andover-based Burbidge’s Bakery which specialises in creating a variety of fresh breads, savouries and cakes; Hattingley Valley Wines, based in Alresford, an award-winning producer of English sparkling wines from grapes nurtured on Hampshire chalk; and Beckys Beezzzs, based less than seven miles away, who will produce a range of flavoursome honeys.

In addition to Hampshire producers, Rosebourne is also sourcing the best national suppliers too. Coast to Kitchen, based in Hertfordshire, will be the in-house fishmongers, supplying a wide range of fresh, smoked and frozen seafood and fish.

Rosebourne’s table-service restaurant will be open 7 days a week from 8.30am to 5pm, serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, while the food hall will offer customers a wide selection of products, from ‘everyday essentials’ to treats and novelty items.

The emphasis on championing and using local food and drink suppliers has been mirrored across Rosebourne. The company has already announced over 30 plant-based suppliers, many of whom are Hampshire-based but also from as far afield as Holland and Italy.
