Rookwood School were out in force at Tesco Andover on Saturday helping Andover Shoppers to pack their bags in aid of donations for their exciting trip to Sri Lanka later in 2014.
The Year 10 and 11 children will be visiting Sri Lanka and helping to build or extend a ‘Home from Home’ resource centre. Organised by Aid Camps International, the Home from Home project is run by aid partner, SERVE. The homes give child-friendly space to toddlers and teenagers and between. The centres are free and open to all local families, regardless of race or religion.
The teenagers worked busily in two shifts from 10-4 in the busy supermarket and at the same time gave away stickers for the Andover & Villages and Andover & Test Valley Gazette magazines ‘Stick it to Win it’ promotion with the promise of a whopping £50 donation for helping out.
Tracey Preston of Gazette Magazines presented the cash to Pat Speed, a Rookwood English Teacher who will be accompanying the children on their Sri Lanka trip.
