ROAD IMPROVEMENT DISRUPTIONS FOR A303 – A34 – M3 – M27 – WC 10/9/18

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 7 September but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
 
M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead to 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: smart motorway
Work to improve journeys by converting the M4 into a smart motorway continues this week. 24 hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction will be in place until spring 2019.
 
M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: street lighting
Work to improve journeys by maintaining the street lighting around junction 10 continues this week. The eastbound entry slip road and the westbound entry slip road from the A329(M) Wokingham-bound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 28  September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.
 
M4 junction 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: street lighting
Work to improve journeys by maintaining the street lighting around junction 13 continues this week. The M4 eastbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 14 September.  Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.
 
M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: bridge reconstruction
Work to maintain journeys and ensure road user safety by replacing the Romsey Road bridge near junction 3 continues this week. A 50mph speed restriction is in place on the M27 east and westbound carriageways beneath the bridge until summer 2019.
 
A27 Farlington, Hampshire: signs
Work to improve journeys by maintaining the signage along the A27 continues this week. The westbound exit slip road at the A2030 Eastern Road junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 10 September, and from Thursday 13 September for 3 nights (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.
 
A27 Warblington, Hampshire: signs
Work to improve journeys by maintaining the signage along the A27 continues this week. The eastbound exit slip road at the A259 Warblington junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 12 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Fishbourne Roundabout at Chichester and return.
 
A31 Picket Post, Hampshire: maintenance
Work to renew the anti-skid resistant material on the A31 takes place this week. The roundabout and A31 eastbound exit slip road at the Picket Post junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 10 September for 3 nights.  A clearly signed diversion will be in place by going east along the A31 to junction 1 of the M27, exiting at the junction to join the A31 westbound carriageway.
 
A31 Canford Bottom, Dorset: maintenance
Work to renew the anti-skid resistant material on the A31 takes place this week. The left turn lane from the B3073 Ham Lane to the A31 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 10 September.  A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Ameysford Roundabout.
 
A31 Winterborne Zelston, Dorset: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A31 takes place this week. The A31 east and westbound carriageways will be closed between Bere Regis and the Roundhouse Roundabout at Sturminster Marshall overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 11 September for 4 nights.
A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A350 and A31. A secondary diversion will be in place from the A31 near the Worlds End pub, south down the B3075 to the A35.
 
A34 Abingdon, Oxfordshire: safety barrier
Work to ensure road user safety by replacing sections of safety barrier along the A34 near Abingdon continues this week. 24 hour narrow lane running and a 50mph speed restriction will be in place on the A34 southbound carriageway until Friday 28 September.
In addition, the A34 southbound carriageway will be closed from the A423 Hinksey Hill junction to the A415 Marcham Interchange overnight, between 9pm and 6am, for the same duration (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Oxford Road, Dunmore Road, Copenhagen Drive, Colwell Drive and A415 Marcham Road.
 
A34 Kidlington, Oxfordshire: road markings
Work to improve journeys by renewing road markings of a section of the A34 takes place this week. The northbound exit slip road at Islip will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 14 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Peartree Interchange.
