Andover & Villages visited the Hawk Conservancy Craft Fair on a wet and windy day, the day after a freak band of weather swept across Andover. On arrival, it was clear the fair was well-attended with most of the parking spaces taken up in the main car park.

Arriving in the Feathers restaurant, there was an abundance of stalls with all manner of goodies on offer. A member of staff from the restaurant handed out free pots of ice cream to the stallholders and visiting public. The Hawk Conservancy promised owls today although, as we arrived, the morning session had just finished and the owls were being taken back to their aviary’s for something to eat. However, sometime later, Miriam from the Hawk Conservancy staff brought out Delta, the Barn Owl, especially for Andover & Villages to meet. Delta is an 8 month old barn own who loves to eat chicken. An absolutely beautiful bird that was alert and friendly, Miriam told us that the Conservancy does not stroke any of the owls on site, because they are not pack animals and therefore do not expect or want grooming from others.

Before meeting Delta, Andover & Villages spoke to the variety of stallholders at the Hawk Conservancy Craft Fair:
