A recurring Charlton Road pothole is causing inconvenience and damage to local motorists and a big risk to cyclists.

A well-known feature of the road for some time, local residents say the hole has been subject to repairs several times over the last year, but none have been effective and the crater continually returns.

Tracy Williams from The Crescent in Andover said, “I have to say that our council do like to waste money on pothole repairs. The one on the junction of Charlton Road/Junction Road is a total mess. It has been repaired 3 times in 6 months, and yet again repaired last week, and it is already breaking up.

“There is a pothole on The Crescent that has been here for three months, with no attempt to repair it. I normally report any potholes I see, but this one was marked up in early January, yet it is still not fixed. I have bumped down the hole twice, but luckily my car has not been damaged. However, it’s only a matter of time, because you just can’t avoid it.”

The Hampshire County Council Website illustrates the giant pothole in Charlton Road and the pothole in The Crescent as being ‘Closed’ problems. The photos in this article were taken on Wednesday 11th February 2015.
