Residents asked to be vigilant following spate of theft and burglary incidents in AndoverDo you keep your doors and windows locked? Is your car locked, even when it’s parked on the drive?

Police in Andover are reminding residents to ensure their homes and vehicles are kept secure following a spate of burglaries and theft incidents in the town.

A television was stolen from a house in Camelot Close on December 8, a laptop was stolen from a house in Lark Close between December 9 and 10, an iPad was stolen from a house in Plover Close on December 10 and two iPads, jewellery and other electrical items were stolen from a house in Genoa Court on December 17.

In all of these incidents, entry was gained through insecure doors.

There was also a burglary in Galahad Close on December 16 where a rear door was force to gain entry. A laptop and jewellery was stolen.

There have also been a number of incidents were items have been stolen from cars which have been left unlocked.

PC Dave Mills said: “The simple message is lock it or lose it. Opportunist thieves will take advantage of insecure homes and vehicles so please ensure you lock your doors, windows and cars and keep your valuables out of sight.

“I would also urge local residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to police.”

Anyone with any information about these incidents is asked to contact PC Mills at Basingstoke Police Station on 101 or call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
