Education News | Pupils from Local School Take Part in Online Workout | Andover & VillagesStaff and pupils from Bulford St Leonard’s Primary School, part of Salisbury Plain Academies, took part in a live HIIT workout in school recently.

The thirty minute exercise routine was inspired by body coach Joe Wicks and the pupils joined other schools from around the UK and across the world who were also participating in the live broadcast.

“The children were exercising in all of the classrooms and hall space across the school and were very excited to take part in a huge live event,” said Principal, Sarah Ward. “As a school, we wanted to inspire children to get involved in fitness by seeing how easy and fun it can be to exercise.”

Body coach, Joe Wicks is targeting schools with a new initiative to get young people more engaged in getting – and staying – fit.

Jemma Dicks, PE subject leader at Bulford St Michael’s said: “It is a great way for all the children to engage in exercises such as burpees and squats and enjoy getting fit.”

Gabrielle Baah (Year R) said: “We did press ups and we tried to hold our leg for 30 seconds. I liked the climbing part of the workout.”

Oliver Parry (Year 3) said: “I enjoyed the workout because it got me energised. Exercise and eating good food makes us healthy and fit.”
