Poundstretcher is opening this morning at 9am (Monday 26th June 2017) in the old Tesco Metro unit in Andover’s Chantry Centre.

The large unit has been empty since Tesco closed it’s popular Metro store in the town centre in 2014. There were plans to turn the space into a food court, however this never materialised.

The Chantry Centre has been open to much public criticism recently, owing to big named stores such as Argos and Carphone Warehouse closing their stores.

Poundstretcher opening a large store in the Chantry Centre illustrates a big named store having confidence in the spending power of Andover.

The unit has been busy all weekend with staff stocking shelves ready for today’s opening.

Andover already has two pound shops, however Poundstretcher is more of a discount store, with Home, Garden and Pet products being sold at discounted prices.
