Police are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which took place on the M3 northbound carriageway this afternoon (Monday, September 7) between junctions 8 and 9 at Micheldever.
At around 15:40pm a black Peugeot 208 and a red Ford Fiesta were involved in a collision. Sadly the driver of the Peugeot, a man from Basingstoke, died. The two people in the Ford Fiesta were treated by ambulance crews, but were not seriously injured.
One of the two lanes between junction 8 and 9 remains closed at this time while police carry out a full investigation of the collision. This lane closure will remain in place for some time and although traffic is flowing we would urge drivers to consider other routes this evening.
