Wiltshire Police are appealing for information following an incident in Amesbury.
At around 1:00pm on Thursday 1st October 2015, an 88 year old woman was shopping with her daughter in Tesco on London Road.
At the tills she let another woman go in front of her in the queue. The same woman, and a man, have then followed them back to her daughter’s house where they have asked them for directions. They used a large map to distract the victim while talking to her.
Some time later the victim has noticed her bank card has been taken, and over £3500 taken from her account.
CCTV images of a man and woman police would like to speak to in connection with the incident are attached.
PCSO Levi Morphy from Amesbury Neighbourhood Policing Team said, “This could be linked to a number of other incidents in the Salisbury area recently. It is really important that you are vigilant when out shopping.
“We want shoppers to be aware of this type of crime, the methods used and that criminals are actively targeting people. Always shield your PIN whilst paying or using cash machines, and never keep a note of your PIN in your purse or handbag.
Make sure your personal belongings are always in sight, especially if you are approached by another person. If you see anything suspicious you should call the police.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
