Andover’s Jake Archer, British Motostar championship, suddenly fell ill when preparing for his race at Snetterton round of the British GP2 championship last week, when suffering from high temperature and lacking in energy.

Having gone out in Free Practice one on Friday he skipped FP2 as he was confined to his bed. On Saturday morning he rose to take part in Qualifying but was still unwell. Race one was later that day and still in a bad way the team decided it wasn’t worth the risk sending him out on the Kalex Moto2 machine in that state.

Sunday morning Archer mustered enough energy to make the short warm-up session but was still too drained to perform at his best. Archer was extremely disappointed but called it a day and returned to Andover.

It’s currently believed that Jake is suffering from tonsilitis.

Archer is expected to be fully fit for the next round which is at the nearby circuit of Thruxton on 2nd to 4th August.
