Plans to add a decked car park at Andover’s train station continue to evolve say South West Trains.

The company have recently signed an agreement with the Department for Transport to deliver 1400 car parking spaces in the next 18 months, by building 8 single storey, decked car parks at selected locations.

Andover has been chosen as the first location for the planned decked car parks and work will start proper in 2016, however minimal preparation work will start prior to the end of 2015. The work is expected to take 20 weeks in total to complete.

This does mean that the station car park will close for the period it takes to build, however the company have advised alternative options, including a collaboration with Test Valley Borough Council for temporary seasonal passes to two of the town’s car parks, details can be found here:

South West Trains have planned a ‘Meet the project team’ session on 16 December 2015 at the Andover station booking hall, from 17.00 – 20.00
