Andover Neighbourcare is a local charity providing a wealth of services to the local and wider community. Offering help with transport, shopping, cleaning, gardening and relieving carers, the service, which is provided predominately by volunteers, has become invaluable to many in the Andover area.
Neighbourcare’s Mission is ‘to relieve older persons who are in need by reason of their age disability, sickness or poverty, by provision of such voluntary care work as may be charitable.’ The provided services enable local clients to build up self confidence, remain in contact with friends and family, find friendship and consequently retain independence for longer.
Established in 1993, the team offer a range of activities and clubs at locations across Andover, giving essential social interaction and support to those attending, they have become a lynch pin in the community.
Neighbourcare in Andover has thousands of regular clients and also provides internet training to the over 50s and disabled in Andover, with the ‘Silver Surfers’ project.
Silver Surfers offer expert tuition delivered on a one to one basis, each customer, whether able or disabled, is encouraged to learn at their own pace.
Complete beginners through to intermediate levels are welcome at Silver Surfers, where participants can learn about a whole range of computing and internet based skills, including social media, emailing, photo editing and so much more. Booking is essential.
