Local Weather News | Met office Warns of Storms and Heavy Downpours | Andover & VillagesUPDATE 14/06/16 – The Met Office have extended the Severe Weather warning issued on Monday 13th June 2016.

The new warning suggests that heavy rain will fall across Andover and the Villages on Tuesday 14th, Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th. 

Tuesday’s Warning: Heavy showers, which continued in some areas overnight, will develop more widely again today. Some will become thundery, leading to slow-moving downpours across the warning area. Some locations will miss these but where they do occur, please be aware of possible localised flooding and disruption to travel. Lightning could be an additional hazard.

Wednesday’s Warning: Scattered heavy, thundery showers are expected to develop yet again on Wednesday, and will lead to slow-moving downpours. As on preceding days, some locations will miss these downpours, but please be aware of possible localised flooding and disruption to travel where they do occur. This update to the warning shifts the area westwards.

Thursday’s Warning: Scattered heavy showers are expected to develop yet again on Thursday, and will lead to slow-moving downpours. As on preceding days some locations will miss these downpours, but please be aware of possible localised flooding and disruption to travel where they do occur. Lightning could be an additional hazard.

Warning on 14th June 2016 – The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for Wednesday 15th June 2016.

The warning suggests that there may be heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms that could see up to 25mm of rain fall within an hour.

Scattered heavy, thundery showers are expected to develop yet again on Wednesday, and will lead to slow-moving downpours across the warning area. As on preceding days, some locations will miss these downpours, but please be aware of possible localised flooding and disruption to travel where they do occur.

The atmosphere will remain unstable such that the daily rise in temperature will trigger slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms. Once again, 15-25 mm could fall within an hour in scattered locations, bringing the risk of flooding, especially if across urban areas.
