Between 3:00pm and 3:45pm Tesco in River way, Andover was quickly evacuated shortly after false fire alarms went off.

Hundreds of shoppers left the store having been told to evacuate due to a ‘false’ fire alarm.

Shortly after the fire alarm, staff returned into the store while shoppers waited for any sign of communication, an eye-witness told Andover and Villages that some customers waited up to an hour for any sign of opening to return to their shopping.

A spokesperson from Tesco told Andover and Villages; “Our Andover Extra store was briefly closed earlier today following a false alarm on our store alarm system. The store has now reopened and serving customers as normal.”
