Police are appealing for information after a man was sexually assaulted in Andover.
At some time between 8.15pm and 9pm on Sunday, September 13 the 21-year-old victim was be-friended by four men in St Mary’s Churchyard in Andover. The victim was then subjected to a sexual assault by two of the men.
Detective Constable Jonathan Duggan from Basingstoke CID said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who was in the Upper High St / St Mary’s Churchyard area on the evening of Sunday September, 13, who may have seen a small group of men in the area at that time.
“We’d like to reassure people that this was an isolated incident which is being treated with the utmost seriousness. We are doing everything we can to find the people responsible and would urge anyone with any information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, to contact the investigation team.”
As always, we advise you to have a PLAN when on a night out:
P – Prepare. Know how you are getting home, pre-book a taxi and let someone know where you’re going. Make sure you have enough credit on your mobile phone for emergencies.
L – Look confident. Someone clearly under the influence of alcohol looks more vulnerable.
A – Act to avoid risk. Think twice before accepting drinks from someone you don’t know well and never accept lifts from cruising cars or cabs.
N – Never assume it will never happen to you. Trust your instincts; they are there to warn you of danger.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Northern Investigation Team on 101, quoting 44150318523, or call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
