Police are asking the public to be vigilant about protecting local wildlife after a suspicious incident was reported in Andover.
At around 2pm on Saturday, May 14, a man was seen trying to lure and catch ducks at Anton Lakes. He was challenged by a member of the public.
The man is described as being around 6ft tall, with dark skin and spoke with a foreign accent.
In February this year, a butchered swan was found at the same location which had been killed and used for food.
PC Steve Rogerson, of Hampshire Constabulary’s Country Watch team, said: “It is an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 to kill, injure or take any wild bird.
“This is a busy location and so we are asking the public to be vigilant in protecting our local wildlife.”
Anyone who sees anything suspicious involving local wildlife is asked to call 101
