Hampshire Police have confirmed to Andover and Villages that they have made an arrest in conjunction with reports of a man attacking women in Andover Town Centre on Saturday 28th December 2019.

Andover & Villages reported that a man was aggressively approaching women in Andover town centre asking to buy them a drink, when they declined he would grab them.

When the article was published, many more women came forward with similar stories of a man fitting the description given by one victim, police are urging anyone with any information to contact them with details.

One woman said, “This sounds like that guy who was in cameo the other night doesn’t know how to take no for an answer.”

Another reported, “Same guy in the white hart beginning December and they are aware of him too. He’s extremely strange.”

Andover and Villages spoke to the White Hart Hotel in Bridge Street who said, “We became aware of this man in around November 2019, we were so concerned at the way he spoke to women in the pub, that we contacted the police a total of six times.

”Despite this, nothing was done and we barred him from entering the premises.

”The man was extremely inappropriate to women in the pub and made them feel very uncomfortable, we were very worried about how it was going to end up.”

A police spokesperson told Andover and Villages, “Police can confirm that officers were called by security staff at Plush Lounge Bar, in London Street, Andover, at 2am on Sunday 29 December.

“Officers attended. A 34-year-old man from Andover was arrested on suspicion of two public order offences. He has been released on police bail until Sunday 26 January, 2020, pending further enquiries.
